The 12th edition of Namibia's biggest road running competition - the Old Mutual Victory Race Series - will start this weekend.
This year's edition was launched in Windhoek on Monday.
Keetmanshoop in the Karas region will host the first-leg of the four-legged competition this coming Saturday, with Swakopmund to follow on the 30th of this month, Oshakati on the 21st of next month, before the curtain comes down in Windhoek on the 4th of August.
This year's competition which carries a whopping 510- thousand dollars was launched by the Deputy Minister of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture Pohamba Shifeta, joined by the Old Mutual Chief Executive Officer of Operations Sakaria Nghikembua, and the dedicated team behind the organization's popular road running competition.
The winners of the male and female categories will receive 15 thousand dollars each, second place will take home 10 thousand dollars, while third place finishers will pocket five thousand dollars. An amount of 12-thousand dollars awaits junior winners.
Also included sponsorship package are two Sports Development bursaries.
For the first time the organisers have secured the services of an official route measurer for this year's races.
