Health and Social Services Minister, Dr Richard Kamwi says the state of affairs at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital Student Nurses Home is appalling.
Dr. Richard Kamwi made the remarks during his visit to the hospital yesterday. (Thurs).
He was accompanied by his Special Advisor Dr. Naftali Hamata and Under Secretary Taati Iithindi.
Their first stop was at the casuality section where the Minister wanted to know why the linen and beds were not enough.
They then proceeded to the maternity ward where they chatted to the new mothers and inquired about the service they had received from the nurses.
The nurses also provided breastfeeding training to some and the Minister encouraged the mothers to breastfeed their babies for at least six months for disease prevention and good brain development.
Kamwi and his team were later joined by his Permanent Secretary Andrew Ndishishi and they then proceeded to the Student Nurses Home.
Dr. Kamwi lashed out at the health Inspectors who were supposed to make sure that the hospital was clean and well maintained.
He called on the staff to carry out their duties diligently and restore the public's confidence in the public health sector.
