A Detective Sergeant of the police at Katima Mulilo in the Caprivi region has been arrested after he allegedly beat a man to death, whom he suspected of having an affair with his wife.

The victim, believed to be a Zambian, died at the accused's house at the Chotto informal settlement shortly after the alleged assault with a stick on Friday.

The suspect had earlier reportedly removed some clothing and other items belonging to his wife from the deceased's house.

The wife had also laid a case of assault against her husband after being beaten up on Friday.

The police found the wife and the body of the victim locked in the accused's house.

The suspect is to appear in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate's Court tomorrow (mon).
