About 70 workers of the NU Diamond cutting and polishing plant in Windhoek staged a demonstration at the company premises yesterday afternoon.
The workers raised grievances related to their remuneration and benefits, which the company did not allegedly attend to.
They vowed to continue demonstrating until a settlement was reached.
The workers expressed dismay at the way the company's management treated them, accusing the company of not acting in good faith and that there were also constant delays in their negotiations.
They demanded a salary increase of two-thousand-500 dollars, a 700-dollar transport allowance, a 900-dollar housing allowance and a 500-dollar lunch allowance.
The workers' salaries reportedly range between 1200 and 2000 dollars.
A meeting between the company management and the Mine Workers Union of Namibia is scheduled for next Wednesday.
There was no company representative to receive the petition and attempts to obtain comment from the company also proved unsuccesful.
