
A SADC Prisons and Correctional Officers Task Team meeting ended in Windhoek yesterday afternoon. (thurs).
The meeting aimed at reviewing and refining the training manual for SADC prisons and correctional officers.
The refined manual will be submitted to relevant SADC structures for approval, while it is expected that member states will allign their individual training manuals to the one reviewed by the task team once it is adopted.
At the start of the training the delegates, comprising senior Prisons and Correctional Services officers, were encouraged to come up with a reviewed and refined training manual for SADC Correctional officers, that would allow for harmonisation of the training curricula across the subregion.
Namibian Commissioner of Prisons, at the close, appreciated the work of the the Task Team during their meeting.
His message was delivered by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons, Tuhafeni Hangula.

The revised training manual will be submitted to the Namibian Commissioner of Prisons for onward submission to relevant SADC structures.
