16 para-athletes received national colours to participate in Dubai at the World Para-Athletic Championships on Friday.
The event is scheduled to take place from the 7th to the 15th of this month.
The World Para-Athletics Championship is a track and field event organized by the International Paralympic Committee, with more than one thousand five-hundred athletes in participation. The event will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, Agnes Tjongarero; the Permanent Secretary of Sport, Emma Kantoma-Gaomas; the Deputy Director of Sport Jo-Ann Manuel, and other stakeholders sent off 16 Para-Athletes with four technical team members.
Tjongarero encouraged the athletes before take-off.
"Your duty on the other side, be discipline dedicated and stay focus. You must compete with the last fibre in you, for the World to see that disability is not inability and that nothing or nobody can stop you from that lighting within you, nothing can stop you"Tjongarero said.
She also told the athletes to have fun while competing.
Tjongarero reminded them remain focused and fully make use of the opportunity accorded to them, as many could only wished for it..
Nampower, who are the main sponsors of the para-athletes, this year alone donated 1,5 million Namibia Dollars and also decided to send their representative Lucia Hiveluah to join and support the athletes.
