Kudus beat Wanderers in Rugby Premier League

Windhoek-Week five of the Namibia Rugby Premier League saw a mixed bag of results, with Kudus Rugby Club beating Wanderers in their own backyard in Windhoek on Saturday.
Kudus, who played their second away game, came into the encounter as underdogs having a reputation for struggling when traveling away from home.
The boys in white recorded the first try through wing Rudie Pretorius, with fly-half Dirk von Weidtz failing to convert.
Wanderers continued to show dominance as Staan van der Merwe added to their tally with their second five pointer and von Weidtz missing another kick at goal.
After several missed chances from the coastal boys, fly-half Ivo Croza took a chance at goal through a drop goal, adding their first three points on the score board.
The drop goal seemed to have picked up the spirits of Kudus as they continued to add to their tally, with two tries.
The first came from lock Grant Nash in the 37th minute levelling the score after a successful conversion from Aureliou Plato.
With the first half drawing to an end, scrumhalf Percy Nash gave Kudus the lead as he went over the white wash for Kudus’ second converted try. This brought the halftime score to Wanderers 10, Kudus 17.
Wanderers then came into the second half drawing first blood as Pretorius scored his second try with the conversion from von Weidtz going wide.
Plato then answered through a penalty kick to give Kudus a five point lead over their host.
However, it was Wanderers trouble-making scrumhalf Dian von Somis levelling the score with the conversion missed again.
With 15 minutes to go, Plato then stepped up to the plate to add another three points, giving Kudus a 23-20 lead.
Wanderers seemed to have won the game as Jamie Joseph made a break, offloading to Driaan Voster for Wanderer’s fifth try with just five minutes left.
However, all the pressure shifted over to Plato as Kudus managed to land a penalty during the last seconds of extra time. Plato successfully converted the 50 metre kick and became an instant hero as Kudus claimed a one point victory over the host.
Meanwhile, in other results, Western Suburbs beat Reho Falcons 53-21 at Suburbs Park, while the boys from Rehoboth Rugby Club got beaten in their own backyard by United by 24-23.
