Zambia were held to a 1:1 draw by a spirited Brave Warriors to finish on top of Group B on goal difference at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco last night.
Uganda and Ivory Coast ended their campaigns with a goalless draw.
The match between the two unbeaten teams - Zambia and Namibia- was their last match in Group B to determine the group winner, despite both of them having already qualified for the knock-out stages of the tournament.
For the first time in the tournament the Brave Warriors -who were without few of their regular starters - did not play deep into their own half as it was the case against Ivory Coast and Uganda as they applied offensive football through-out the match, which at some stages caught the Zambians napping.
Namibia took the lead with a speculative free-kick by Absalom Limbondi but Lazarous Kambole levelled 11 minutes later for Chipolopolo.
Chances after chances were there for the Brave Warriors to seal the match, only to be let down by poor finishing.
The team also stood firm in defence and therefore it came as no surprise that Teberius Lombard walked away with the Man of the Match accolade afterwards.
Zambia will face Sudan in the quarter-finals on Saturday, while Namibia take on Morocco on the same day.
In another Group B encounter, Uganda and Ivory Coast ended their campaigns with a goalless draw, to earn their first points at the tournament.
