The Namibian Police (NamPol) Force has warned the public to refrain from crossing flooding rivers and streams, as the rainy season is not over yet and flooding is expected to continue. In a statement issued on Monday, NamPol Deputy Inspector-General for Operation, Major-General James Tjivikua said eight lives were lost after victims were swept away in flooding rivers.

Russian man arrested for stealing diesel

A 46-year-old Russian national was arrested in Walvis Bay on Friday for allegedly stealing more than 4 200 litres of diesel from a shipping vessel. Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi during the weekly crime briefing here on Sunday said the suspect, who is the captain of a ship, reportedly sold the 4 224 litres of diesel to a local company for N$45 830.

NamPol warns against false audio recording

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has distanced itself from an audio recording which is being circulated on social media. The audio clip, which has been circulating on WhatsApp, contains a false threat saying that the police will search for indecent and disturbing visuals on the cell phone of every person that passes through road blocks on national roads.
