‘Team Swapo Party’ members launch bids for party’s top four positions

Jerry Ekandjo and Nahas Angula officially kicked off their bids to ascend to the Swapo presidency in Windhoek on Thursday.
Pendukeni Ivula-Ithana and Helmut Angula, who are part of “Team Swapo Party”, are both vying for the vice presidency while Armas Amukwiyu is running for the secretary general (SG) position.
Petrina Haingura and Martha Namudjembo-Tilahun are contesting for the deputy SG post in this joint campaign.
Reading a joint media statement at the party’s headquarters, retired politician, Ngarikutuke Tjiriange said, “Team Swapo Party want to restore the party's core values, which allegedly have eroded over the past two years.”
The team expressed concern over the downgrading of the country's credit rating and the expulsions of SPYL members from the party, among others.
Tjiriange urged party members to go out and campaign for the team in the spirit of unity.
