Air Namibia employees staged a demonstration in protest against a 50% salary cut this month. The employees claimed that they were unfairly treated as there was no communication between them and management.
In an internal memorandum, Air Namibia's says, the reduction in basic salary of staff was done in accordance with the provision of the Labour Act.
The statement says, "the airline experienced consecutive years of negative financial growth, which necessitated the decision to reduce certain employees."
The company says it is working on plans to restart operations now that the borders have been reopened.
