#BusinessToday | TransNamib appoints new CEO

The TransNamib board of directors on Friday officially announced its appointment of Johny Smith as its new chief executive officer. His first day of office was Thursday, 1 February.
Smith holds a BComm degree and a Masters in Business Administration.
He is thus well suited for the position - with more than 25 years commercial experience in the fields of telecommunications, land and sea transportation.
His relevant experience covers aspects of Business Strategy, Organisational Development, Business Development, Marketing and Project Management.
In terms of leadership roles, he serves as the current Chairperson in the Alliance for Corridor Management in Africa, as well as Chairperson of Telecom Namibia and Commissioner in the National Planning Commission.
Prior to joining TransNamib, Smith was the CEO of the Walvis Bay Corridor Group, which constitutes a Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the transport and logistics sector.
