Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Zhang Yiming has again dismissed as wrong the perception that his country has captured Namibia.
Ambassador Zhang was speaking at the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Prize Awarding Ceremony.
Zhang handed-over N$60 000 cash to three schools in the Kavango East Region.
He said the true nature of China's relations with Namibia is that of a developmental partner that assists Namibia's developmental needs.
Zhang encouraged the Chinese people in Namibia to be good residents and comply with the country's laws and regulations.
The ambassador's comments follow news that Namibia wants to fund its infrastructure projects with a loan of N$10 billion from China.
He awarded N$20 000 each to Saint Boniface College, Dr Romanus Kampungu Senior Secondary School and Noordgrens Senior Secondary School in Kavango East Region.
The awards are meant to encourage learners to perform and show commitment to their studies.
