A 37-year-old man who was diagnosed with Congo Fever has died.
The Ministry of Health confirmed the outbreak of Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever on Monday in the Keetmanshoop district.
The deceased, who was later transferred to Windhoek for further treatment, died in the early hours of Tuesday.
He was reportedly infested with ticks while assisting a neighbour with slaughtering a cow about three weeks ago.
In a press release, the Health Ministry said the surveillance team at Keetmanshoop is tracing people who may have possibly come into contact with him and a rapid response team has been dispatched there.
The name of the deceased cannot yet be revealed as his next of kin have not yet been informed.
