Government and stakeholders are urged to grow the economy and create jobs to reduce the high unemployment rate.
The director of SME Compete, Danny Meyer, made the call during an interview with NBC News Monday.
He said the number of unemployed Namibians has reached a level that should be a concern to all.
Statistics by the Namibia Statistic Agency (NSA) indicate that the unemployment rate increased from 28,1% in 2014 to 34% in 2016.
Meyer said his goal of growing the economy is to employ people and create a better Namibia.
SME Compete is an institution that trains upcoming young entrepreneurs in business skills to improve their businesses or to help them to start their own business.
Meyer said tackling unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship are both important, but job-creation require different approaches, strategies and programmes.
He called on Bank of Namibia Governor Ipumbu Shiimi, to consider placing employment-creation back on the agenda this year.
