Death toll in Malengalenga School accident rises

The death toll in an accident that involved learners from Malengalenga Combined School in the Zambezi Region, has risen to five.
This follows the death on Saturday night, of 20-year-old Shakwa Samube who had been treated at the Mediclinic private hospital in Windhoek.
She was a Grade 10 learner and her next of kin have been informed.
The four other learners who died on the scene, were: 17-year-old Namasiu Musa, 21-year-old Alascar Masule, 23-year-old Timoth Mulozi and 21-year-old Lipuo Mavuna.
Three of those who had sustained serious injuries are still in the Katima Mulilo State Hospital, in serious but stable condition.
Family members of the deceased learners have agreed that all the learners should be buried near the school, on Wednesday.
The learners from Malengalenga Combined School in the Linyanti Constituency, had been travelling to Sesheke Combined School in Kongola Constituency with some teachers, to participate in sport activities.
The accident happened last Wednesday, in the Mudumu National Park in the Zambezi Region.
The vehicle, a Ford Bantam bakkie, had been carrying 11 learners, with the driver and one passenger in the front seat.
