Dr Ndume crowned the New African Woman in Health, Science and Technology

Namibian eye specialist, Dr. Helena Ndume, has been crowned the New African Woman in Health, Science and Technology.
The eye surgeon was nominated in the Science category, along with five other women.
The awards ceremony was held in Dakar, Senegal, last week.
Ndume is well known for conducting high-precision, specialist eye operations for free, on the elderly.
She has performed sight-restoring surgeries upon 35 000 Namibians, completely free of charge.
Organisers New African Magazine stated that Dr Ndume dedicated her life and career to treating blindness in Namibians, and throughout the developing world.
International eye surgeon Dr Michael Colvard described her as an incredible physician - very capable, and an inspiration to people.
The Awards, celebrate and honour exceptional African women, who have made a positive impact and contribution in their communities, and the continent at large, in the past 12 months.
