Education Deputy Minister says quality education is a shared responsibility

The Deputy Minister of Education, Arts and Culture Faustina Caley says the provision of education infrastructure should be a collective responsibility.
She was speaking at the handover ceremony of classrooms constructed by Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) at Kavango West's Sinzongoro Combined School.
Caley says the government is committed to ensuring access and provision of quality education for all.
She added that this is demonstrated by the Government's biggest annual budgetary allocation to the sector.
However, more collaborations in schools' infrastructure development, especially in rural schools are welcome.
MTC Namibia launched its Rural Schools Project to construct classrooms at needy rural schools.
Sinzogoro is the first beneficiary of that initiative, and chief human capital and corporate affairs officer Tim Ekandjo says more schools will follow suit.
The classrooms were constructed to the tune of N$1,6 million.
A five classroom block at the school was gutted by a fire in December last year after an electric shock, leaving learners taught on the ground and in tents.
The school has since received numerous donations, such as computers, photocopier machines, desks and chairs among others.
