Emmerson Mnangangwa sworn in as new Zimbabwean president

Zimbabwe's third president, Emmerson Mnangagwa was sworn in on Friday in the capital, Harare.
The swearing in was administered by country's Chief Justice, Luke Malaba in the presence of visiting heads of state from Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana as well as former presidents of Namibia, and Zambia.
Mnangagwa then administered the oath for members of the uniformed forces before inspecting a guard of honour.
In his speech, Mnangagwa promised to transform the economy, uphold the country's land reform policies and programmes by compensating those whose land was taken and working to unite all Zimbabweans who were polarised by the political crisis in the country.
The former vice president also heaped praised on his predecessors, Robert Mugabe, saying he still considers him as his leader who led Zimbabwe through difficult times during the formative years and should therefore be accorded the necessary respect and honour he deserves.
Mugabe resigned this week after pressure from his party, civil society and the army.
