A number of vehicles using the C14 roadblock in the Erongo Region to enter or leave Walvis Bay were turned back this week due to a lack of appropriate permits.
The security cluster made a presentation at the Erongo Governor's weekly COVID-19 media briefing at Swakopmund.
Namibian Marine Corps Commandant, Captain Appolus Haimbala said there are people trying to leave the restricted local authority areas of Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Arandis.
Haimbala said, "In the presence of the deputy minister we happened to arrest an illegal entrance citizen who presented a false special permit that he made on his own. These are opportunists doing that and lucky enough, in this case, the Governor, the honourable deputy minister were there wen we managed to arrest one of those culprits on the spot. So you can now see that the people were attempting to evade using the B2 main road.
Captain Haimbala has urged residents to stick to regulations which include wearing of masks in public, social distancing, sanitising and frequent washing of hands.
