Governor Mutjavikua says journalists don't deserve protective gear

Erongo Governor Cleophas Mutjavikua said journalists do not deserve to get protective gear against COVID-19.
This is after the Walvis Bay Constituency Councillor, Knowledge Ipinge donated hazmat suits to journalists last weekend.
Journalists all over the world are disseminating information, playing the watchdog role, pushing governments on transparency in terms of measures and commitments, in the process exposing them to the risk of contracting COVID-19.
At Namport's handover ceremony of 20 mobile toilets to Twaloloka residents in Walvis Bay, on Wednesday, Mutjavikua stressed that the gear is for those attending to patients in a hospital.
"It is not for parading, it's for when you are working on a sick person," Mutjavikua said.
He added that the protective gear is scarce in Namibia and that is why "people must be serious when they receive such donations".
