The Presidency says not allowing journalists to attend the COVID-19 briefing was in compliance with the number of people regulation under Stage 3 of the state of emergency regulations.
The Presidency said this in response to criticism over why journalists were not present at the briefing.
Journalists from different media houses, however, rejected State House' explanation, arguing that they are essential service providers and could have been exempted.
Meanwhile, contacted for comment, the Editors Forum of Namibia (EFN) said it would respond only after consultations.
Its chairperson, Frank Steffen said the forum is attending to various issues and could not give responses on short notice.
EFN, he says, wants to operate smoothly with all concerned stakeholders.
