Independent Candidate threatens to take ECN to court over the use of EVMs

Independent Candidate Dr Panduleni Itula has threatened to take the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) to court over the use of EVMs in the upcoming elections.
Dr Itula has, through his lawyers Henry Shimutwikeni Legal Practitioners, cited among others the missing EVMs that were loaned to the Swapo Party the reason for his action.
He said the missing EVM's cast doubts on the credibility of elections.
Itula is also demanding from the ECN to use paper trail or to deploy a competent technician to each polling station for verification, if EVMs were to be used.
Another alternative is for ECN to go back to the ballot papers voting system.
ECN's Chief Electoral and Referenda Officer Theo Mujoro says preparation for the elections have already advanced and it will use the EVMs.
