Public Enterprises Minister Leon Jooste has asked acting Fisheries Minister Albert Kawana to remove James Hatuikulipi as member and chairperson of the Fishcor board, and any subsidiary of the company, as well as suspend or dismiss chief executive officer (CEO) Mike Nghipunya with immediate effect.
Nghipunya and Hatuikulipi are implicated in a kickback scandal involving millions.
The scandal has so far caused the resignation of two Namibian ministers, Sacky Shanghala and Bernhardt Esau as well as the suspension of the CEO of the Icelandic fishing conglomerate Samherji following allegations of corruption in his company's activities in Namibia.
Hatuikulipi also resigned from his Investec job on Thursday.
