The Chief Executive Officer of Kalkrand Village Council, Seth Boois, has been suspended with immediate effect.
Boois has been suspended to allow an investigation from the Urban and Rural Development Ministry into accusations of corruption and mismanagement against him.
The move comes a month after villagers took to the streets and demanded Boois' immediate removal for alleged corruption.
The Chairperson of the Kalkrand Village Council Management Committee, Hendrick Nuganab confirmed the suspension to Nampa.
Nuganab told Nampa that the ministry would send an investigating team to Kalkrand.
He said the suspension follows allegations about incomplete capital projects and non-accountability for capital project funds.
These include an alleged payment of 60-sewage septic tanks while only 30 were ordered.
Nuganab said the soccer stadium was one of the capital projects that were incomplete because there was no money to complete it although it was budgeted for.
Contacted for comment by Nampa, Boois said he was unable to comment as he was driving.
He later told the reporter that he would not comment, telling him to write anything he wanted.
