The Kambazembi Traditional Authority has called for unity among traditional authorities in the Otjozondjupa Region.
Chief Sam Kambazembi made the appeal following divisions amongst the traditional authority representatives, which hampers development and genocide negotiations with Germany.
The chief encouraged the traditional leaders who attended the meeting at Okakarara to set up an inclusive body spearheading a development agenda towards improving the livelihood of their communities.
Kambazembi said the ongoing genocide negotiations between the German Government with the Ovaherero and the Nama communities also caused divisions among the people.
He said disunity hampers the settlement of compensation as the German authorities do not know who to negotiate with.
The traditional authorities are suing the German Government for the genocide of over 100 000 Ovaherero, Nama and San people who died between 1904 and 1908.
