Kavango water levels continue to rise

The water levels of the Kavango River continue to rise rapidly according to the latest flood bulletin.
The bulletin issued by the Namibia Hydrological Services said the water levels in the Kavango River at the Rundu station are increasing rapidly.
Although the levels continue to rise rapidly, it is still lower than that of last year over the same period," it added.
The water levels at Rundu station shows a level of 4,76 metres, in contrast to last year's measurement of 5,53 metres.
The bulletin also indicated that the water level of the Zambezi River at Katima Mulilo is increasing steadily and stands at 1,35 metres, compared to the 3,37 metres recorded last year.
It further indicates that good rains were recorded in the Cuvelai and Kavango catchments in Namibia and Angola.
Good showers were also observed across the south eastern parts of the country, which saw Namwater opening the sluices of the Naute Dam outside Keetmanshoop
The Neckartal Dam also received inflow.
