Kavara memorial underway

The memorial service for the late Member of Parliament and Ncuncuni constituency Councillor, Rosa Kunyanda Kavara, is underway at Rundu.
Many mourners, dressed in party colours, have gathered at Rundu's Trade Fair Centre.
Kavara, who has had a quiet rise in the ranks of the Swapo Party, that saw her getting elected to the party's Central Committee last year, died at a private hospital in Windhoek on 2 January, following a stroke.
The former teacher has been described as a brilliant leader who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of her people, especially women and the youth. Kavara was the first female councillor for Rundu Town Council in 1992.
In 2014 she was elected as Councillor for Ncuncuni Constituency. She has also consistently been a member of the Swapo Party Women’s Council Central Committee since 1996.
She was 59 years old when she died.
