Large crowd gather at Moses //Garoeb Constituency office for food

Over 500 residents have gathered at the Moses //Garoeb Constituency office in Windhoek.
The angry group turned up at the office after the councillor announced on the radio that members of his constituency who are not cardholders of the Ministry of Poverty Eradication's food bank programme come to his office to register and receive food parcels.
However, this announcement prompted a large group to show up.
The group of people were, however, demanding food from the COVID-19 food relief packages. The councillor's office has to date received 700 food packages from the office of the Prime Minister's COVID-19 Programme and corporates, like MTC, have also donated food to the constituency.
This is, however, not enough for the almost 60 000 residents of the constituency, said councillor Martin David.
The Namibian Police and other forces have been called to maintain order.
The crowd is, however, refusing to disperse and keeps increasing.
Physical fights between law enforcement and civilians also broke out.
No arrests have been made.
