Ministry wants regions to establish hubs for youth to develop new ideas

The Higher Education, Training and Innovation Ministry wants all the regions to have innovation hubs where the youth can develop new ideas.
The ministry's Director of Research and Innovation, Lisho Mundia, said the hubs would help Namibia become a knowledge-based society with a well-established innovation system.
Mundia said innovation contributes to national development and these centres, including incubation centres, science parks and clusters can provide key innovators, a platform for sharing ideas and developing new ways of thinking or doing things.
He said his ministry is working hard to include more youth in innovation training while calling on the youth to look at new and improved ways of doing things.
Mundia said indigenous knowledge is important for developing countries' innovation policy development.
He said the innovation system can facilitate the participatory processes of local communities in the establishment of an innovation system and in sharing of indigenous knowledge.
Mundia was speaking at the three-day innovation summit that ended in Windhoek on Friday.
