Namibia gears up for SADC Summit

Members of the National Preparatory Committee for the hosting of the upcoming SADC Summit is hard at work, preparing for the meeting.
The Safari Hotel and Conference Centre, the venue for the summit and its preceding meetings, is the proverbial hive of activity as final touches are made to preparations which started more than six months ago.
Saturday the National Preparatory Committee had its final meeting at the summit venue where chairperson ambassador Selma Ashipala-Musavyi assured the media everything is place for the hosting of the summit.
On Sunday, members of the subcommittee of publicity and information put up banners and publicity material at strategic places such as the Hosea Kutako International Airport, Windhoek's Independence Avenue and local hotels where delegates will be staying.
The mid morning exercise also included the branding of municipal buses.
Members of SADC Secretariat have also arrived from Gaborone, Botswana while Executive Secretary Dr Stergomina Tax is expected to jet in Monday afternoon.
The 38th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and preceding meetings will take place in Windhoek from 9 to 18 August.
On Thursday the Senior Officials meeting will kick off which will be followed by the SADC Councils of Ministers meeting from 14 August before the summit.
