Namibian Government supports Shoprite consumer boycott

Government is in support of consumer boycott against Shoprite.
As a support mechanism, government will henceforth stop buying food bank supplies from the retailer.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Bro-Mathew Shinguadja told the media that government has issued directives to Shoprite to resolve disputes with its employees amicably but the giant retailer has arrogantly ignored these directives.
Shinguadja says government views Shoprite's unwillingness to heed government's call as insubordination.
Shoprite is suing 90 employees for N$4,5 million for the legal costs and damages after participating in an unprotected strike in 2015.
