NBC offers once-off payment as part of ongoing wage negotiations

The NBC has offered a once-off payment of between N$10 000 and N$20 000 for employees in the bargaining unit, as part of the ongoing wage negotiations with NAPWU.
The offer is an alternative to the workers' demand for salary increment and other conditions of employment.
In a statement, the NBC says the impact of COVID-19 on the global and local economy is having an adverse effect on various levels of the society, and the public broadcaster is also not immune to this situation.
NBC's Director-General, Stanley Similo says, therefore, this cannot be ignored when engaging in wage negotiations
This offer would translate into the corporation spending more than N$7,6 million.
Similo says this payment is subject to the NBC sourcing funds to cater for this expenditure.
This payment could vary from N$10 000 to N$20 000 per employee in certain categories or it could be a flat amount of N15 000 once-off.
