NBC suspends production manager

Production manager at the national broadcaster Glendyrr Bailey has been suspended pending an investigation into alleged conflict of interest and misuse of company equipment and staff.
Bailey is under investigation for allegedly negotiating sports content for Dimension TV through a company owned by her.
She is also being suspected of hijacking tenders and deals meant for the national broadcaster to line her own pockets, this at a time when the broadcaster is going through difficult financial turbulence.
She is further being suspected of diverting the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) deals to produce content for foreign companies.
Bailey was quoted in a local daily as saying that she has declared her private company to the NBC and that there is nothing wrong with what she is doing as her employer is aware.
NBC spokesperson Chief Commercial and Communications Umbi Karuaihe-Upi confirmed the suspension on Wednesday.
She said preliminary investigations into the allegations against Bailey are ongoing and that the suspension is needed for an unhindered investigation process.
Last week the broadcaster suspended its Outside Broadcast manager Ronnie Hoebeb on similar charges.
Karuaihe-Upi did not say for how long the two will be on suspension.
