NCHE awards Welwitchia Health Training Centre and Botho Higher Education Institution certificates to operate

The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has awarded two private tertiary institutions certificates to operate.
The institutions are the Welwitchia Health Training Centre and Botho Higher Education Institution.
The entities were awarded the certificates in terms with the 2003 Higher Education Act Number 26.
The Council has approved the change of Lingua College's name to International Training College Lingua.
Lingua College registered and has been operating since 2016.
The Council accredited eight University of Namibia's programmes and 12 Namibia University of Science and Technology programmes for the next six years.
It registered 12 higher education institutions to date.
NCHE Deputy Executive Director Sylvia Demas said certification proves that the applicants had met the required standards.
Demas said the certification also motivates other institutions currently not registered or offering programmes of poor quality, to register.
She further urged all tertiary institutions to always strive for achieving high standards in their programmes and be on par with international standards.
The deputy executive director was speaking to NBC Radio Current Affairs Programme, the 'World-At-Six'.
