Newborn baby deregistered as COVID-19 positive case

Newborn baby deregistered as a positive case

The Minister of Health and Social Services Dr Kalumbi Shangula this morning gave an update on the status of a newborn baby who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on 3 July.
He said the baby was tested barely five hours after delivery and the results came out positive.
However, the baby was re-tested after 24 and 72 hours respectively, and the results came out negative in both instances.
Dr Shangula attributed this to contamination from the mother who had tested positive, therefore, the case of the newborn baby has been deregistered.
