The Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) has announced the suspension of the chief executive officer (CEO) and head of the secretariat, Hilya Nghiwete, with immediate effect, pending the outcome of an investigation.
NSFAF board chairman, Jerome Mutumba said the investigation involves serious allegations, "which border on the centrality of maladministration or administrative corruption among other misconducts" and a decision was taken to suspend the CEO at a special meeting held on 9 April.
Nghiwete is suspended with full pay.
The board has appointed the chief operating officer, Kennedy Kandume, as acting CEO until further notice.
