The National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) secretary-general, Job Muniaro has called on President Hage Geingob to immediately fire Public Enterprises Minister, Leon Jooste for allegedly being untrustworthy and misdirecting Cabinet on why Air Namibia must be liquidated.
Muniaro, at a press conference held today, said Jooste has vested interests in the failure of the national airline and has, therefore, orchestrated the liquidation of the national flag carrier.
He says Geingob must also recall Jooste from Parliament and all positions within the party.
The NUNW, the umbrella union affiliated to the governing party, threatens mass nationwide protests if President Geingob fails to take action.
Muniaro says they firmly blame Jooste for the mess at the airline, indicating that despite clear remedial plans to make Air Namibia profitable, he sidelined key stakeholders in finding solutions for reasons and intentions only known to him.
