About 50 adult literacy promoters in Otjiwarongo have petitioned the Education, Arts and Culture Ministry for fair working conditions.
Education Officer Eveline Lukas, who read the petition, said the group demands that salaries be based on the correct grade.
The promoters and officers further demanded updated working agreements to differentiate workers in the adult education and the general education divisions.
They further demanded that their current temporary 10-month contracts be extended to at least one to three years, starting next year.
The adult literacy promoters want a review of the current curriculum and an immediate end to any unlawful deductions on their salaries.
Acting Otjozondjupa Education Director Josephine Mutenda received the petition and promised forward it to the relevant offices.
