The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform has called on interested crop farmers in the Otjozondjupa Region to register for a seed multiplication project which will be implemented this year.
Otjiwarongo agricultural extension technician, Saima Nambuli in an interview with NAMPA on Wednesday said the ministry is implementing a new seed multiplication project targeting crop farmers in various regions.
Nambuli said the project, which is being co-funded by the African Development Bank, intends to register and select both commercial and communal crop producers.
Registered farmers who qualify will then receive training, free seeds of their choice, ploughing and weeding services, as well as a market for their harvested produce, she said.
The same project is also expected to be implemented in Kunene North, Omusati, Oshana, Zambezi, Kavango East, Kavango West, Ohangwena and Omaheke.
“Interested crop farmers in Otjozondjupa can contact our offices in Otjiwarongo where they can register or obtain more information on this new project,” Nambuli said.
The registrations of farmers at Otjiwarongo started on 4 June and will end on 6 July 2020.
Interested farmers are required to provide certified copies of their identity documents and proof of ownership of land in the communal or commercial areas.
