Parliamentarians divided over the amendments to the Regional Council Act

The National Assembly members are divided on amendments to the Regional Council Act giving the Urban and Rural Development Minister powers to appoint Regional Council officials in consultations with the councils.
Contributing to the debate on the bill, DTA President McHenry Venaani says the amendments are in contravention of the separation of powers between central, regional and local governments.
