Percy Nsika announced as the new PS for the Ministry of Agriculture

A new permanent secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, has been announced.
Minister John Mutorwa on Monday introduced the new PS, he is Percy Msika.
The Ministry has been without a Permanent Secretary for the past 18 months, which placed an extra workload onto the three deputy permanent secretaries.
Welcoming the new PS to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Minister Mutorwa said he hoped Msika would benefit the ministry with his long experience working in international relations.
Msika served for 15 years at the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, before his current appointment as Permanent Secretary.
Mutorwa urged the new PS and his staff to embrace teamwork, transparency and an open door policy.
This is to ensure the ministry can attain its own objectives and the national objectives of NDP5, Vision 2030 and the Harambee Prosperity Plan.
Accepting his new post, Percy Msika said he was aware of the challenges facing the Agricultural sector, especially the long-running drought.
He was committed to working with all stakeholders in helping the government restore food security and mitigate poverty.
Percy Msika has already started in his post as Permanent Secretary from 1st of December.
