PM visits Oshana constituencies to assess drought situation

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa Amadhila is on a drought assessment tour to Ompundja and Uuvudhiya constituencies in the Oshana Region.
She is accompanied by Oshana Governor Elia Irimari and the Councillors of Ompundja and Uuvudhiya constituencies Adolf Uunona and Amutenya gwa-Ndahafa as well as Oshana Chief Regional Officer Martin Elago and Namwater CEO Abraham Nehemia.
She will be taken to areas where water for animals is channelled as an effective measures to mitigate drought in Oshana.
The Premier will also be briefed and taken to some areas where there is grazing but there is no water for animals.
Farmers in villages with serious water shortage such as Oponona and Inakulu-yomadhiya wants government to make funds available for water to be pumped to their areas.
The water has now reached Eendamambali earth dam at Oshipumbu Shomugongo and wells as well as earth dams at Uuvudhiya villages.
Availability of sufficient water to animals will shorten long distances travelled by livestock in search of water.
