President Hage Geingob has appealed to China and its investment community to support the SADC region develop its manufacturing, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture and tourism sectors.
Geingob, who is Chairman of SADC, made the call at a two-day summit of the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which started in Beijing on Monday.
The summit concluding Tuesday intends to tighten China-Africa relations, with a shared future, further combining China's Belt and Road Initiative with African development.
Geingob said trade liberalisation can only contribute meaningfully to sustainable development, poverty-reduction and job-creation; if it leads to efficient and effective trade.
The Head of State reminded the meeting that to realise this, SADC developed the Industrialisation Strategy and Roadmap 2015-2063.
He said due to their extensive knowledge in industrial development and technology, Chinese will help SADC in realising its dream.
SADC's main priorities as resolved at the summit include the industrialisation of the region, empowerment of youth and maintaining peace and security.
Geingob said the region has set young people as a priority to advance regional development and integration.
He said the youth should be empowered through skills and entrepreneurship development.
