President Geingob appoints Frans Kapofi as Minister of Defence

President Hage Geingob has appointed Frans Kapofi as new Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs. Kapofi replaces Peter Vilho, who resigned earlier this month following a meeting with President Geingob over his alleged HSBC bank account in Hong Kong. Kapofi takes over the ministry when some stakeholders want an audit of the defence company, August 26 Holdings. Fisheries Minister Albert Kawana, replaces Kapofi as Minister of Home of Affairs, Safety and Security. Deputy Urban and Rural Development Minister Derek Klazen is the new Fisheries Minister. Former Erongo Chief Regional Officer, Natalia /Goagoses replaces Klazen as Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development. Veno Kauaria is appointed as Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Heather Sibungo is Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism. Maureen Hinda-Mbuende has been appointed Deputy Minister of Finance. President Geingob, said the appointments w to implement the Harambee Prosperity Plan II, the national Development Plans, and to improve service delivery.
