President Hage Geingob has bestowed the Most Brilliant Order of the Sun on Kenya's Lieutenant-General, Daniel Ishmael Opande.
The award is Namibia's second highest national honour.
President Geingob announced the conferment following official talks with Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta at Harambee House.
The honour on the now retired Lieutenant-General Opande is as a result of the common history between Namibia and Kenya.
He served as a Deputy Force Commander with the United Nations Transitional Assistance Group (UN Tag) in Namibia from 1989 to 1990.
President Geingob invited Opande to collect the honour in Namibia at his convenience.
