President Hage Geingob has called on the Pan-African Women's Organisation (PAWO) to discuss ways to address baby dumping and gender-based violence in the societies.
Speaking during organisation's 10th congress, underway in Windhoek, Geingob said most of these acts are as a result of frustration-aggression and could reverse gains made by gender-parity.
He said the outcome of the discussions could cement the Government's efforts.
"Women constitute half of our population and in this regard, Namibia has benefitted from the SWAPO party’s internal reform of its party-list system, to include, 50/50 representation of men and women" Geingob stressed.
PAWO president, Assetou Koite commended Rwandan and Namibian governments for leading on the continent in terms of appointing women in key decision-making positions.
