President Hage Geingob says Namibians remain committed to working with Nigerians to build the foundation of Pan-African solidarity and economic development.
This is contained in a congratulated message President Geingob sent to his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari on the 60th independence anniversary of Nigeria.
Nigeria gained independence from Britain on 1 October 1960.
President Geingob says Nigeria played a leading role in supporting black liberation movements in Southern Africa such as SWAPO and its armed wing, PLAN.
Nigeria was also instrumental in the establishment of the UN Special Committee Against Apartheid and contributed to the work of UN Council for Namibia in 1967.
The UN Council was set up as the legal administering authority for Namibia after South Africa's mandate was terminated.
