President Geingob inaugurates COVID-19 ICU and Isolation Ward

President Hage Geingob has commissioned two facilities dedicated to fighting COVID-19 in Windhoek.
He has inaugurated a renovated intensive care unit and a 10-bed isolation facility at the Windhoek Central Hospital.
President Geingob says the facilities are being built to ensure that Namibians do not lose their lives.
He has applauded the solidarity of international partners in the construction of the facilities.
The President, however, raised concern about how truckers are being handled.
He says truckers bring essential goods into the country, and handling them at the border remains complex.
Geingob has asked relevant officials to work out and improve the treatment of truck drivers arriving from neighbouring countries.
Head of facilities at the hospital, Dr Calistus Mukahanana, says the intensive care unit has been refurbished and turned into an intensive care unit.
Health Ministry Executive Director Ben Nangombe says pre-fabricated intensive care facilities are planned for Gobabis, Opuwo and Oshakati.
