President Geingob inaugurates NamPol's state-of-the-art HQ in Windhoek

President Hage Geingob inaugurated the state-of-the-art Namibian Police (NamPol) national headquarters in Windhoek on Friday.
The multi-million dollar facility was constructed over a period of five years and boast 10 floors to accommodate offices and other needs of the force.
President Geingob told the attendees that the facility would also save over N$3 million that Nampol spent monthly on renting offices from private companies and individuals.
He, however, warned that state-of-the-art police facilities alone does not translate into success against crime unless supported by competent police.
He called on the force to be technologically savvy, engage in pre-emptive crime prevention, as opposed to a reactive approach, to fighting crime.
President Geingob says funds, where possible, will be made available to the Ministry of Safety and Security to provide adequate human resources and technical means to NamPol.
He says that NamPol has the required capacity to fight and prevent crime in the country effectively.
President Geingob also commended the continued commitment and cooperation displayed by members of various community groups across the country and their involvement in the fight against crime, such as the police reservists, women and men network against crime and neighbourhood watches.
